Services

The Federation is offering a wide range of services to its affiliate members and the planter’s Community such as:

  1. Marketing services for the sale of agricultural produce
  2. Research and vulgarization services for the agricultural production
  3. Consultancy services in agri- business from local and international sources
  4. Supply of agro inputs through importation
  5. Capacity building programmes
  6. Operation of agro Input Supply Store at Belle Mare.
  7. Offering services on smart Agriculture
  8. The Federation will explore the international market and will start importing agro inputs at a lower price which will be beneficial to the local farmers.

The Federation has embarked on a project “ Transformation of Belle Mare into a Climate Smart Agriculture Village for climate resilience, food security, and povery alleviation of its farmers” the project has been jointly funded by the European Union and the Australian HighCommission and is being undertaken by the Federation and by the academics of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Mauritius.

 

As part of this project, 15 small planters have been trained on CSA technology to act as demonstrators and role models for other planters in the region, and have been provided with water tanks, indigenous drip irrigation system, composters, sprayers for biopesticides, tillers, mulch material, biofertilisers, biopesticides, seeds, melliferous plants, insect sticky traps, and other farm inputs.

 

Around 300 other planters in Belle Mare are also being given training on CSA, as well as a CSA Starter Pack, composed of biopesticides, biofertilisers, compost, insect sticky traps, and seeds of vegetables and melliferous plants.
The CSA training will also be carried out for relevant staff of nearby hotels, as well as other stakeholders.

 

Around 100 other small and medium planters in Belle Mare will be given a water tank and drip irrigation system each, in order to help them conserve water and use it more efficiently.
